A Saison is a Farmhouse Ale, originating in Belgium. This beer was originally brewed in the colder months and then drunk by farm workers in the summer months, thus the name "Saison" which means "Season".
Today the Saison has been embraced and adapted by innovative brewers, who appreciate its complex flavour and refreshing nature. The Saison is vividly fruity with spicy earthy tones and touches of coriander. They are often dry with a mild tartness although not to the levels of a sour beer.
Expect a pale hazy colour with high carbonation and a large aromatic frothy head, that's very welcoming (especially after a long day grafting on a farm). The Saison is crisp and moreish, it's quite literally been designed as a thirst quencher!
