Birra Montecassino

Rediscovered in 2018 Birra Montecassino truly has a unique history.

According to scriptures (dating back to 529AD) Montecassino is seen as the oldest brewing abbey in the world and was renowned for its heavenly craft throughout Europe at the time.

Situated at the top of a small mountain, over looking the small town of Cassino below, the abbey stood proud untill the devastating WWII “Battle of Montecassino” in 1944 which halted production.

The Montecassino Abbey was beautifully restored in 1964 however the brewery was left irretrievable. But thankfully its story didn’t end there.

Almost 80 years after the battle, the resurrection of Birra Montecassino began. Through refining with modern day techniques and implementing the centuries old brewing traditions we have been able to produce a naturally carbonated Italian craft beer with a distinctive and authentic flavour.

Infused with an exclusive pure mountain water, naturally filtered- to create an incredibly clean brew.

Created in a state of the art brewery, nestled in the hills of Montecassino abbey, we have revived the legacy.

Birra Montecassino has been reborn.
